There are no limits to human cruelty.
Anna spent the first few months of her life in a human home. She could have played with the children, enjoyed human company, feel part of the family. But her life was very different.
Anna has spent the first part of her life dying. Her owners tied to a pole and left her die of malnutrition and exposure. At times they must have given her some food and water, barely enough to stay alive, but her torment continued.
I have no idea how anyone can do this to an animal. To see her there, day and night, dying a little. To see her suffer, become sick, her skin and her insides being eaten by parasites. To see her hungry and feed her just enough to stay alive and deny her of help. That´s the hardest part, her owners knew she needed help, but she received none. Instead, they watched her die.
Anna is now with us, safe, in one of the country´s best hospitals. Her blood levels are being monitored every few hours. She is hungry, desperately hungry, to watch her eat is a moving experience, because you imagine how much hunger she has endured.
Anna is in critical condition…. she is receiving fluid therapy and we have started treatment for Leishmania, Ehrlichia and Mange. Three diseases that, when combined, can have a devastating effect on a dog.
Anna bleads profusely through the nose due to the parasites that infect her blood. We are trying to stop that…
We promise you we are going to do everything, absolutely everything to save her… We promise you she is going to have the best medical team at her service… and for this we need you.
