On the morning of July 9th, a corgi, named Jasper, was taken to a veterinary clinic in Iowa City, Iowa to be groomed. During the session, the dog was severely injured by 22-year-old Lucas Van Orden IV. Orden, no longer an employee of the Creature Comfort Veterinary Center, confessed to kicking Jasper during the session.
Jasper suffered bruised lungs, fractured ribs, and subcutaneous emphysema (air trapped under the skin). Jasper’s family knew something was wrong as soon as they picked him up at the center. Jasper walked slowly with his ears down and wouldn’t jump into the car and screamed in pain when they tried to pick him up. Jasper was rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital.

Jasper was admitted to the hospital for several days. Orden is now facing a citation for animal neglect. This seems to be more than just neglect – this was animal cruelty. Share away, people.
