Many owners face some troubles when they are going to work or leave the house for a couple of hours. They can’t leave a dog home alone. Let’s figure out why this happens and how to avoid bad circumstances.
Hi there! This is Archie and today I want to share my story. For the very first time, my owner Natali left me home in my childhood. I still remember a weird feeling of hearing complete silence in the whole house. I was so scared that I started whining and barking very loud. When she came home, I was the happiest dog in the whole world! So if you want to leave a dog home alone and feel calm that nothing will happen, this pieces of advice are for you!
There are some useful tips if you want to leave a dog home alone:
Some pets love watching TV, especially such channels as Animal Planet, Nat Geo and other TV programs about the wild world. So, going to work, leave the TV on and perhaps your dog won’t be bored and scared of silence.
As a rule, both small and adult dogs like playing with toys. So, leave your pet his favorite toy especially the one that can be chewed – they love it!
- Door training
- Create a protected dog house
It is important for your pet to feel safe when you are not home. Therefore, I recommend you to create a protected area filled with dog’s toys. Also, you may put some of your clothes smelling like you there.
- New friend
This method is quite radical. If you often have long-distant trips, attempt stay after work till night or just love partying to the morning, get a new friend to your pet. Yes, this is about buying a new dog. But if you are too busy all the time, consider the idea of having a pet at all. Actually, your dog won’t be happy if you don’t have time for them.
Natalie used these tips to make me feel comfortable home alone when she has to go somewhere. It wasn’t easy to get used but we successfully overcame all the difficulties.
I hope I was useful! Thank you for reading this. See you later!
