Being an orphaned wild animal can be a strange experience. Your life is turned completely upside down, you’re surrounded by these large creatures you’ve never seen before, and you’re in a strange place that doesn’t smell anything like home.
For this baby porcupine, his circumstances were for the best, as he was taken in by the Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo. He hadn’t met another porcupine since he’d been brought in, and the staff wanted to make sure that he got as much interaction with his own kind as he could. Named Quilliam, he was introduced to an older porcupine named Widget, and the bond was instantaneous.

They were already playing together within a few minutes of meeting each other, and were wrestling on the ground like the best of friends. They now have someone looking out for them every day for the rest of their lives. Share away, people!
