Trigger warning; for some of the more sensitive readers, this could be hard to see. Animal rescue has to see some horrible things, but this is unique even for them. A kitten just came in that was dyed purple, and was barely alive. The 7 week old kitten was starving, weighing under two pounds, with injuries to his arm, and looking like he wouldn’t make it through the night.
Workers aren’t sure, but think that he was being used as a chew toy for another animal! Workers at Nine lives called the little kitten Smurf, because of the purple dye that wouldn’t come off. Workers at Nine Lives Foundation, a cat rescue organization, did what they could for the cat, and then put him in a kennel with Wanda, a rescue kitten found just after Christmas.
Wanda had come in with problems as well, and Nine Lives Foundation had discovered that she was blind! Her infected eye was giving her more health problems, and so she was kept for more attention.
She couldn’t have counted on it being from Smurf. The two cats have bonded, and support each other through their healing processes.
The people at Nine Lives Foundation have remarked about how well they do around each other, and have plans for them to move on to foster care and then be adopted together!
The two cats have a very obvious affection for each other.
